Creating a recipe blog or website is a great way to spread the word about veganism and help existing vegans get more creative with their meals. But how do you compete with all of the other vegan recipe blogs out there? Here are some tips to make your own vegan recipe blog more helpful and appealing to readers.

Include some vegetarian recipes.

If you are a vegan yourself, then you probably won't make recipes that call for eggs or dairy products. However, some people who are transitioning into veganism may still be in a vegetarian phase and eat these items to some degree. Including a few vegetarian, not vegan, recipes on your website can make the space more accommodating to these people. Just make sure you clearly label these recipes as vegetarian. Feature them in a separate tab or on a separate page.

Offer some breakfast recipes.

So many vegan recipe websites focus on lunch and dinner. But vegans need to eat breakfast, too, and sometimes it's nice to have something more than just a banana and coconut milk yogurt! Breakfast recipes are a niche waiting to be filled in the vegan community, so post as many as you can. Any meal with tofu scramble as a base works well. Since many vegan breakfast items are really carbohydrate-based, aim to include plenty of higher-protein recipes.

Recommend substitutions.

When you post a recipe on your blog, be sure to mention any substitutions the reader can make. Vegan ingredients can get expensive, and people will be more likely to make your recipes if they know that they can substitute something they already have. If recommending substitutions in each recipe gets cumbersome, you could always create a separate blog post listing common substitutions. Then, link to this post in any subsequent recipe posts as needed.

Use lots of fruits and veggies.

There are plenty of junk food vegan recipes out there. But if someone is going to succeed on this diet long-term, they really need to focus on eating healthy foods. So, a good goal is to post two healthy recipes for every junk food recipe that you post. Stir fries, soups, stews, and salads are all good starting points.

A vegan recipe blog can bring a lot of followers and really help spread the word about veganism. Just make sure you follow the tips above and listen to feedback from your followers over time.
